MAP SO HARD

Privacy Policy

Effective May 31, 2026·Last updated May 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information MAP SO HARD ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you visit, how it is used, the third parties involved, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to the practices described here. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you contact us by email or subscribe to a newsletter (see below), we receive the email address and any message you choose to send.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers and analytics tools may record standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you view. This is used to keep the site running, understand which content is useful, and detect abuse.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:

  • Essential — basic functionality and security. These are required for the site to work.
  • Analytics — to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which maps are popular) so we can improve it. Non-essential analytics cookies are only set after you consent where consent is required.
  • Advertising — to support the site through third-party advertising, as described in the next section.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and through the consent controls described under "Your choices."

Advertising and third-party vendors (Google AdSense)

We intend to support this site with advertising provided by Google AdSense and its partners. When advertising is enabled:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • These third parties may set and read their own cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies, and may collect information such as your IP address and device identifiers. We do not control these cookies, and this policy does not cover the practices of those third parties.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may opt out of personalized advertising from many other vendors via the Digital Advertising Alliance at aboutads.info/choices and youradchoices.com, or, in Europe, via Your Online Choices. For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google's partner-sites policy.

Advertising is not currently live on this site. This section describes how advertising will operate once it is enabled, so that your choices are clear in advance.

Consent management

Where required (for example, for visitors in the EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions), and once advertising or non-essential cookies are enabled, we use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) together with Google Consent Mode v2. Advertising and non-essential analytics technologies load only after you have given consent through the CMP banner. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by reopening the consent settings from the banner or the link provided on the site; withdrawing consent stops further use of the relevant cookies going forward.

Email and newsletter

If a newsletter signup is offered and you subscribe, we use your email address only to send the updates you asked for (such as new maps). We do not sell your email address. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time via Contact. At present the newsletter is not active; this section describes how it will work when it launches.

Analytics providers

We may use privacy-conscious analytics services to measure traffic and improve content. These providers process the technical data described above on our behalf. Where their cookies are non-essential, they are gated behind the consent controls described above.

Data retention and security

We keep automatically collected technical data only as long as needed for the purposes above, and email addresses only for as long as you remain subscribed or until you ask us to delete them. We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where a consent banner is shown, through the CMP controls described above. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us using the details on the Contact page.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves (for example, when advertising or a newsletter goes live). Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date on this page.
